We should stomp all the new guys in the nuts and ressurect the great gods like The Cars, The Police, and shit like that. And if we DO have any hip-hop, it's gotta be only the PIMPIN-est stuff, like Another Bad Creation, or BelBiv DeVoe. In fact, the only real-life hip-hopper I like today is Jeremih! All the others are just fat-ass niggas!!!!!!

@mercenary616 Metal bands are using Pro Tools to make rythms? No, my friend, that's wrong. Metal bands can play instruments and make a song out of it without mixing instruments on a computer. Don't take me wrong, I'm not against computer music. I listen to trance, forexample, but that's not just looping like todays hip hop, trance artists are actually talented and they have much creativity. I'm sorry to say it, but mainstream hip hop is talentless and a disease to the entire music community.

Interesting setup of interviews. But for me it feels like the stuff that is really good allways will be listned to by people anyway. As long as they make the music and stick it out there, some people will find it and eventually it will be talked about. I constantly find music today that does it for me (enjoying Hyperdub-stuff at the moment). But I dont know, maybe I dont see the whole picture. Fill me in please.

that was unbelievable, thank for the vid :)

@MariusMMS structures to other style. And regardless, hip hop has a different aim of its music. It isn't a showcase of instrumental talent and ingenuity for the most part. It is a broadcasting of the self, the confidence, the ideals, and everything that made hip hop what it is. The problem you run into when you hear hip hop is you are trying to hear it as something it isn't. You don't say jimi hendrix sucks because he doesn't have as much distortion as job for a cowboy right?

@MariusMMS Yes, they are obviously using pro tools. Just about every popular artist uses pro tools. It is extremely common, look into it. It isn't just rappers, metal bands like children of bodom , and dream theater uses it. Progressive bands like Mgmt or system of a down use it. Britney spears uses it. It is pretty standard for many artist. Just cause usher may have used a garage band loop doesn't mean everyone does. First of all, hip hop tracks for the most part tend to follow similar

@mercenary616 Do you really think that the mainstream "rappers" forexample are using Pro Tools? I heard a song from Usher one time, and he used a soundtrack called Heroes which can be found in Garage Band. I used the same soundtrack in a song I made for fun one time. And seriously, if they could make something more than just a beat which is repeating itself over and over again, I would be impressed. But they are just looping it, over and over again. Listen to JB's Baby, forexample. Loop.
mercenary616 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@MariusMMS Pro tool is very difficult to use. It does not make beats for you. That would be a stupid thing to imagine, why would you trust a computer to make a whole song? Computers aren't smart enough to do something as creative as creating a song. And for the record, iron maiden and blink 182 are on major labels. They ARE mainstream.
mercenary616 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@MariusMMS You did not understand my point. I wasn't stating artist with auto tuner, i was stating western artist that use the major scale -_-. I am not kidding. I play guitar and drums,AND i mess with beat producing software. I can mess around and make a riff on guitar in a few seconds. And a whole song in like 10 minutes if i want to hurry it up(might not be an amazing song, but it will have structure). It takes a whole day to make a beat. And thats after you have practice. Ever use pro tools?
