Alot of talk of publishing deals and such...these are not easy to get and only reason I got one is due to me working for Chuck D and the label feeling that if I can get him to promote and commit they can make some money using his status to sale the work ( produced by others ) It becomes less creative and more political

So your right sir No one knows what to buy or more specificly consumer are kinda told what to buy.The Economic climate does affect the bottom line and companies need to do what works but in that the doors open to new music seems closed...and anyone that tries a new way of doing that can work gets shut down. So we are now subject to the labels if we want any real deal.

In continuation of my last post ...Now if we go to best buy or any large chain no one knows me therefore dont know what I like and cant lead me to any new music. So we lean to what ever to played over and over and assume we want that then realise we really wanted something new.

The reason no one knows what to buy is due to the homogenization and lack of cultrue that was removed when the small record stores was eliminated.there was a relationship between the retailer and the consumer the consumer trusted what the person at the retail store recommended.
