@proent dude...it's better to let people believe you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

This guy seems like an awesome person to just sit down and talk to for hours.

People - The value of a recording engineer in today's job market is exactly this ZERO.There are no longer any jobs for recording engineers, anywhere in the world, that pay enough to live (poorly) from. Nothing. Opening up your own studio will make you poor, and then what?. Studio time goes for $50/hr now. How the hell can you pay your gear, utilities, rent and have anything left over? Stay away from Recording Engineering unless you want to be broke and miserable.

@RainKingRecording I think we all know the value of an Engineer. I would love to become an engineer, I don't know how. I've heard that there are schools offering this program, but people go into deep debt paying for these specialty schools. Then drug dealers come along and open their own studio, because they have the money and they get even richer. Meanwhile the average Joe that dreams of going into this field never gets the chance.

So many young record producers today made their money in drug sales and then moved into the recording industry and have made millions. People like Cash money millionaires of Cash money records were able to funnel that money from drugs into a business. While decent people who have never broken the law have never been able to break into this industry. It has been my dream to own my own recording studio to make other people's dreams come true. How can I do this? Help

@proent Name one. It's a whole lot more complicated then just a computer and software. Mics, Preamps, Conversation, Clocking. You don't need nearly as much but you still need quality gear.
