i had the same problem, its just a matter of hitting it as hard as you can, but you really need to turn the vol. up if ur playing it on electric, i play this on my acoustic sometimes aswell, but the vol. certainly has to be up to increase the sound it will make.

one quick questionwhen you first start off with the tap on the 12th fret, is your finger holding down the 8th fret?I know when you let go with the 12th fret your finger is off of the 8th fret, but what about when you put your finger on?
